Inside the 2021 edition of Russia's Aviadarts competition

Alexander Mladenov reports on the latest edition of Aviadarts – the well-established and strongly contested Russian Aerospace Forces combat employment competition.

Russia’s young guns got the chance to test their gunnery and combat skills recently, during the ninth edition of the country’s popular Aviadarts manoeuvres. The event took place between May 21 and June 4 and, as usual, saw the participation of all main Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) branches. The competition’s main goal was to further improve the combat proficiency of the participating aircrews – who were able to assess their skills and overall readiness for combat by flying standard employment profiles for their respective VKS branch.
